Bhagavad-gita As It Is

The Bhagavad-gita is highly recommended for anyone interested in spirituality and the meaning of life. One of the world's best known literatures, it is often considered the essence of all wisdom. It's a conversation between the military hero Arjuna and his friend/advisor/charioteer Krishna, spoken just before the apocalyptic Battle of Kurukshetra. Subjects they discuss include the eternality of the self, destiny, the source of our being, and how to achieve genuine, long-term peace and happiness.

The translation and commentary by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the twentieth century's foremost Vedic scholar and teacher of Krishna consciousness, make Krishna's teachings in the Gita accessible to the western reader. Prabhupada's faithfulness to the original Sanskrit text, along with his straightforwardness, clarity and wit, make "Bhagavad-gita As It Is" true to its title.

Since its publication in 1970, Bhagavad-gita As It Is has become the most widely read edition of the Gita in the world.

Srimad-Bhagavatam (Bhagavata Purana)

The Srimad-Bhagavatam is considered the topmost collection of all ancient wisdom. It contains histories of the many incarnations and activities of Krishna throughout human history. It was written by the author of the Vedas, Vyasadeva, as his own commentary on Vedanta-sutra, the essence of all spiritual knowledge.

Srimad-Bhagavatam is also known as the Bhagavat Purana, one of the eighteen Puranas (ancient histories) in the Vedic tradition. Its eighteen thousand verses are presented in twelve cantos, each of which deals with a specific aspect of transcendental knowledge. The main theme running throughout the Bhagavatam is the science and practice of devotional service to the Supreme Person (bhakti-yoga).

The Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT)

Founded in 1972 by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, The Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT) is the worlds largest publisher of ancient and classic Vaishnava texts, epics, and contemporary works on the philosophy, theology and culture of Bhakti yoga. BBT especially emphasizes the works of the Gaudiya-Vaishnava tradition. In Indonesia, the BBT gives official license to Hanuman Sakti, based in Jakarta, to print its books. The Indonesian BBT works under the North European BBT division, based in Sweden.

The Bhaktivedanta Institute (BI)

Bhaktivedanta Institute is a not-for-profit organization working for the synthesis of science and religion for the benefit of humanity. Our goal is to have spiritual reality accepted and incorporated into scientific research and advancements, and to have scientific principles and methods integrated into the practice of spirituality. In Indonesia, BI conducts seminars and other scientific presentations regularly. They also manage two schools in Denpasar, (1) Bhaktivedanta Dharma School and (2) Bhaktivedanta Academy.
